Description

This is a Hexacopter Frame which employs 6 arms to get into the air. There are several advantages of a hexacopter frame over a quadcopter one, justifying the extra price tag.

With 6 arms, a hexacopter uses more motors, resulting in more power and support for larger batteries. This increase in battery capacity can lead to longer flight times. Due to these additional motors, a hexacopter is also more stable than an equivalent quadcopter.

Another advantage of using a hexacopter is redundancy. If a quadcopter loses a motor, it will generally crash. With a hexacopter, in many situations it is possible to land safely even if one or sometimes two motors stop functioning.

The S550 has a strong, lightweight design and includes an integrated PCB (Printed Circuit Board) that allows ESCs to be soldered directly onto the frame. This makes assembly faster and eliminates the need for an additional PDB (Power Distribution Board), resulting in cleaner wiring and a neater installation.

The S550 Hexacopter Frame is designed with a built-in PCB for easy wiring and increased flexibility when mounting components such as flight controllers, batteries, cameras, and other accessories. The added lift capacity of the hexacopter configuration makes it suitable for carrying larger payloads such as camera systems and electronic equipment.

It comes with pre-threaded brass sleeves for all frame bolts, allowing the arms to be attached quickly and easily. The frame uses a common bolt size throughout the build, making assembly and maintenance more convenient.

The motor mounts support motors with mounting hole centers of 16mm, 19mm, and 25mm, making the frame compatible with a wide range of motor options.

The frame has a wheelbase of 550mm and the complete frame kit weighs approximately 760g. It features mounting tabs at the front and rear of the bottom plate for mounting cameras and other accessories.
